Proper filtration is crucial to the operation and longevity of your nozzles and pump. Fortunately, the sediment filter that comes with all of our app controlled pumps is a very high quality stainless steel filter which can be cleaned. Unfortunately, many areas of the country are plagued with hard water and calcium. 

If you live in an area with hard water ( calcium ), then treating the water is essential.  It's important to differentiate between sediment and hard water filters.  Sediment filters will remove particles which will clog your nozzles and pump valves. The traditional hard water filter uses Sodium Hexametaphoshate to treat the water ( we just call it phosphate for simplicity ). So the key word here is "treat". The phosphate is not really a filter, but a water treatment system that uses slow dissolving phosphate crystal beads. New to our line up is the Scalex Pro.  It offers a much higher degree of calcium filtration as well as carbon and other harmful elements.  

As opposed to dirt, sand or other particulates, calcium flows freely through  your sediment  filter, building up gradually in your pump and nozzles.
